crowns
i've been at this place of falling in love with Jesus and last night was just amazing. i went to Encounter and was full of joy and ready to worship... sure enough, the entire service was basically prayer and worship time. so, as i was singing, i looked up at the screen and saw images of jesus on the cross. that's when it hit me - Jesus was a person. he had a real body. the lord reminded me of my own body and how much pain hurts. i began to really see my savior in a new and beautiful way. he hurt for me, alot. we actually ended up taking the lord's supper and that was an amazing time of joy.... then it came to the beautiful hymn:
When I survey the wondrous cross
On which the Prince of Glory died
My richest gain I count but loss
And pour contempt on all my pride
See from his head, his hands, his feet
Sorrow and love flow mingled down
Did ever such love and sorrow meet
Or thorns compose so rich a crown
O the wonderful cross, O the wonderful cross
Bids me come and die and find that I may truly live
O the wonderful cross, O the wonderful cross
All who gather here by grace draw near and bless Your name
Were the whole realm of nature mine
That were an offering far too small
Love so amazing, so divine
Demands my soul, my life, my all
So, the point i wanted to make - the crown of thorns. they crowned him with thorns.... he is king, he needs a crown of gold and diamonds! it hurts so bad to think about my jesus being crowned with thorns. for the first time i realized why we'll give crowns to jesus in heaven. last night, reflecting on the crown of thorns, i just began to weep. i really, really wanted jesus to have a beautiful crown fit for a king. but, he told me that he wore the crown of thorns so i could have the crown of gold. what? wow, jesus really loves me.... i just don't have words to describe how much i love him and want to worship him. i am really excited about being able to crown him in heaven.
