"i was afraid because i was naked..." gen.3:10
i love how good God is. the last couple of times i have messed up with God, i've recognized this tendancy to do like Adam and Eve. run and hide. Adam and Eve were naked before God to start out with; they were in perfect communion with Him and therefore had nothing to hide. when sin entered in, they found out that they were naked, and somehow just didn't want to talk to Him about it. they would just avoid him at all costs...
God already knows what we "look like" naked. why do we try to hide? i am naked before Him no matter what i do. running around trying to patch together a few leaves and hiding in the dark only makes me feel worse. thank the Lord for conviction from the Holy spirit and glimpse of how horrible even the smallest sins are to God, and how essential it is to stay close to him. avoiding him only puts me in further agony. all he wants to do is clothe me with His sacrifice and bring me back under his wing. what an amazing father. i started off the weekend with the verse, so i come back to it now to claim the promise: I have loved you with an everlasting love; i have drawn you with loving-kindness... Really Jesus? everlasting? thank you. thank you thank you.
beauty for ashes, garments of praise for my heaviness.
beauty for ashes, take this heart of stone and
make it yours, make it yours.
i delight myself in the Richest of Fare,
trading all that i had for all that is better;
a garment of praise for my heaviness,
you are the greatest taste.
